Weekend bagpack at Kg Orang Asli

The Weekend Backpack Program is a 12 month partnership initiative between Sejiwa Society and airasia grocer to provide healthy and nutritious food to kids in Kampung Orang Asli Gerachi Jaya and Paya Lebar. A total of 100 school kids from these two communities benefited from this program.

The idea of the weekend backpack is to raise awareness of going to school, eating healthy and being hygienic. The team engages the kids with stories, exercise sessions and simple health tips. At the end of the program, each kid receives a backpack with fruits, oat biscuits, cereals, oat drinks, milk, bread, eggs, vitamin gummies and snacks included.

As part of the program, a team of doctors from Pusat Perubatan University Malaysia were also deployed to conduct on-site medical checks for these kids.
