Harumanis, Asia's best sweet and juicy fruit that has captured the hearts of fruit lovers everywhere, hails from the rolling hills and verdant countryside of Perlis, Malaysia. Harumanis Mango is a true seasonal gem, with a limited growing window of only three months every year. This year, from April through June, the trees that bear Harumanis spring to life, brimming with clusters of the sweet and juicy orbs that tantalize the senses with their irresistible aroma and flavor. Due to the strict adherence to the natural harvest cycle, the order period for harumanis mangoes are tied to its harvest cycle, only for a period of 3 months, making it even more limited and special.
Back in 2021, airasia grocer marked the successful launch of Harumanis Asli Perlis, with a grand Flag-off ceremony held at the tarmac of KLIA2 which was graced by then Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI), Dr. Ronald Kiandee and the founders of airasia, Tony Fernandes & Datuk Kamaruddin Meranun. Subsequently, we hosted the Harumanis Asli Perlis Press Dinner in Kota Kinabalu, with the goal of reaching a wider audience and spreading awareness of this historical moment. We also had a five-week media campaign, in collaboration with MAFI, Department of Agriculture (DOA), Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA), and the airasia team, which generated a significant buzz in the media. Our efforts allowed us to work with 20 farmers and sell over 10 tonnes of harumanis, with 4.2 tonnes exported to Sabah for the first time in history. With such a successful launch under our belts, we are now setting our sights even higher, as we plan to conquer the global market this year and in the years to come.
This year, we have started our trips to Perlis, visiting the farmers and working closely with them to ensure that we have ample supply of the fruit. We have been monitoring the weather in these areas as the harvest season approaches, taking great care to ensure that we can bring the freshest fruits direct from the farm for our clients.
